Solar Health Check: A$425
On-site visit + comprehensive report. A licensed electrician visits your home to inspect and measure your existing solar system, then you get a plain-English report on how it's performing, what needs attention, and whether your system is ready for a battery.
General information only, not personal financial advice. Visits are carried out by a licensed Queensland electrician. [Amir to confirm wording, who attends (Amir or a contracted licensed electrician), and employer approval.]
Standalone or as an add-on. Book it on its own, or add it to any SortedDIY tier or SortedDesign. Your site data then feeds straight into your report or design.
Who it's for
- You have solar and want to know if it's working as it should (low output, error lights, old inverter, storm or hail damage, new home with an unknown system).
- You're thinking about a battery and want to know what your existing system, switchboard and meter can support before you get quotes.
- You want an independent check from someone who isn't trying to sell you a new system.
What we check on site (about 60–90 minutes)
- Panels and array: visual condition from the ground and by drone or pole camera where safe and permitted (no roof walking unless agreed [Amir to confirm]): cracks, discolouration, hotspots, soiling, mounting, cable management, isolators.
- Shading: a shade assessment across the year (sun-path photos/app) and identification of trees or structures affecting output.
- Inverter: make, model, age, serial, error log, display and app readings, ventilation, location, firmware, warranty status, battery compatibility (hybrid-ready? AC-coupling options).
- Switchboard: photos and a visual inspection of the condition, space for new breakers, RCD/safety-switch protection, signs of overheating, solar main switch labelling. Switchboard covers are only removed by a licensed electrician and where safe.
- Meter: meter type (smart/interval), export settings, meter number for data requests, location and access.
- Thermal imaging (where possible): thermal camera scan of accessible panels, isolators, inverter and switchboard connections for hotspots [subject to equipment and conditions].
- Electrical tests (where safe and appropriate): string open-circuit voltage and current versus expected, insulation checks [Amir to confirm which tests are offered].
- Monitoring data: we collect or set up access to your inverter monitoring and request your smart-meter interval data (with your consent).
- Battery readiness: a proposed battery location (clearances and AS/NZS 5139 considerations), cable runs, internet/Wi-Fi coverage and backup-circuit options.
What you get (deliverables)
- Comprehensive Solar Health Check report (PDF) with annotated photos and thermal images.
- A performance analysis: expected versus actual generation from monitoring/interval data, the estimated loss in kWh and A$ per year, and likely causes.
- Findings rated by priority: Safety: act now / Fix soon / Monitor / OK, each with a plain-English explanation.
- Recommendations: clean, repair, replace or leave, with indicative cost ranges and the questions to ask a repairer. We don't do the repairs and don't refer to repairers for a fee.
- A battery and expansion readiness summary: switchboard, inverter compatibility, the location, and what an installer will need to quote properly.
- Data pack: all photos, readings and monitoring exports. It feeds directly into your SortedDIY report or SortedDesign if you add one.
- A 20-minute phone/video call to go through the findings [optional; confirm].
Service area
Gold Coast and South East Queensland initially (Gold Coast, Logan, Brisbane south side, Scenic Rim, Tweed border areas [confirm]). Locations outside the core area may incur a travel fee [A$X per km beyond Y km; to confirm]. Other regions coming later.
Turnaround
Visit usually booked within [X business days, TBC]. Report delivered [X business days, TBC] after the visit (longer if we're waiting on retailer interval data).
Booking and what we need
- Address, best contact, and safe access to the switchboard, meter, inverter and roof line of sight; pets secured.
- Your inverter app login or permission to request monitoring access, and consent for us to request smart-meter data from your retailer/distributor.
- Recent power bills (last 4 if you have them) and any original installation documents (compliance certificate, panel/inverter datasheets).
Scope limits
- It's an inspection and advisory report, not an electrical safety certificate, compliance certificate, building or structural inspection, or warranty assessment on behalf of a manufacturer.
- No repairs, panel cleaning or installation work during the visit. If we find an immediate safety hazard, we'll tell you on the spot and advise you to isolate the system or call a licensed electrician or your installer. We may make the system safe where required by law.
- Roof access only where safe, with suitable equipment and where agreed. Otherwise the panels are assessed from the ground, by drone/pole camera, and from the data.
- Findings reflect the conditions on the day; they're not a guarantee of future performance.
- We don't sell equipment, refer repairers or installers for a fee, or take commissions.

Secure checkout via Lemon Squeezy. After payment, we contact you within [X] business days to schedule the visit and send the pre-visit form. If we can't service your address, you get a full refund.
Post-Install Check: A$425
Before you pay the final invoice, get an independent licensed electrician to check the job. We inspect your new battery (or solar + battery) installation after it's finished and before your final payment is due, then give you a written defect list you can send to your installer.
Book as soon as you have an install date. We aim to inspect within [X business days, TBC] of completion. Check your contract's final-payment terms: many installers ask for payment on completion, so agree a short inspection window with them in advance.
What we check
- Work vs quote and design: the right battery/inverter models and capacity (usable kWh), number of panels, backup circuits, monitoring, and everything itemised in your quote (and in your SortedDesign brief if you had one).
- Standards and safety (visual and test): battery location and clearances against AS/NZS 5139, labelling and signage, isolators, cable routing and protection, the switchboard work and RCD protection, earthing, and weatherproofing. Workmanship is checked against AS/NZS 3000 / 5033 / 4777 as relevant [Amir to confirm list].
- System tests: the battery charges and discharges, backup changeover works (where included, with a simulated grid outage), export limits and grid-protection settings match network requirements, string voltages are within range, and monitoring/app access is in your name.
- Paperwork: the Certificate of Compliance/Electrical Safety Certificate, commissioning sheet, datasheets, warranty registrations in your name, network approval, and the STC/rebate paperwork matching the installed system.
What you get
- A written defect list rated by priority (Safety: fix before use / Must fix before final payment / Minor / OK), with photos and the relevant clause or quote line, worded so you can forward it to your installer.
- A summary of tests and settings recorded on the day.
- One re-check of the fixed items by photo/document review within 30 days (a second visit is quoted separately).
Scope limits
- It's an independent inspection for you, not the installer's compliance certification (which stays the installer's legal responsibility) and not a regulator inspection.
- We don't fix defects during the visit and don't take part in payment disputes. The defect list is our professional opinion to help you and your installer resolve issues.
- We don't take money from installers for these inspections, and we don't refer for a fee.

Quoted repairs: price on quote
Found a problem in a Health Check or Post-Install Check (and your installer can't or won't fix it)? We can quote repairs and rectification work: inverter or isolator replacement, cabling and connection faults, switchboard upgrades, monitoring fixes [scope to be confirmed by Amir]. - Only after a Health Check (or Post-Install Check), so the quote is based on real site data. - A fixed written quote before any work. No obligation, and you're welcome to use any licensed electrician instead. - Work done by a licensed electrical contractor [licence details to confirm]. If the repairer has any link to an installer or electrical business, we disclose it on the quote. - Repairs are kept separate from our advice: our reports never recommend work just to win a repair job.
